Tyne Folk

Chris & Steve Wilson

As the first guests of the year and as long time friends of tynefolk there was eager anticipation in the air when Chris and Steve Wilson took to the floor. And were we entertained? . . . . . Were we not!!

As members of the fabled Wilson Family, as well as performers in their own right, Chris and Steve have a wealth of material to call upon and on this occasion fell back on a lot of older material which they used to include and which was a special pleasure to hear again.

An evening of songs, packed full of harmonies and choruses, interspersed with Steve's instrumental accompaniment on a range of instruments. Melodeon for Oats and Beans; Whistle for the Curragh of Kildare and Lizzy Lindsey with a smattering of Flute for Bedmaking. Not forgetting a liberal dash of guitar throughout.

All in all, a great way to start the New Year. As Steve and Chris commented at the end of the evening, the choice of songs they had to leave out of the performance proved more difficult than what to put in. So much so, that they have the makings of another set just ready to go.

So put a date in your diaries. The first guests for 2013 are already booked. Chris and Steve will be making a return appearance to tynefolk in January 2013.
