George Welch at tynefolk

George Welch

Jesmond's latest immigrant and Byker's loss, George Welch, performed his unique brand of music, song and humour to an appreciative audience of tynefolk members.

Two sets of great songs were delivered in that rich mellow voice, interspersed with musings and opinions which could only be George's.

With a wealth of songs and a repertoire of anecdotes and one liners he has become a North East legend we should treasure.

Highlight of the evening was his Peter Brough ventriloquism act featuring Willie and their unmissable rendition of "Glaydon Races". No one will ever "Take the gus from Gangaras" again without being reminded of George and Willie!

Ably accompanied on ukulele and 5 string banjo by his chauffeuse come memory jogger, Christine, George gave us a wonderful evening of entertainment.
