Tyne Folk

John Connolly

John Connoly

After visiting tynefolk and taking part in our interview series some five years ago we decided it was time for another visit from John Connolly.

Particularly well known for his writing of 'Fiddlers Green' which is often portrayed as traditional by those singers who do not carry out enough research in the songs they are about to record. John didn't let us down by trying to end the night by this wishful song. I say tried to end the night because there was no way we would let him go without an encore!

John enjoyed his visit to tynefolk which was helped by a good turnout of regulars and first time visitors alike. All enjoyed listening to his accomplished singing and his excellent songs accompanied by some nifty Melodeon playing.

His insight to the situations he writes about as well as his wit and sense of humour, in both man and song, were well appreciated and I hope all those who read this brief appraisal of the night will take the time to include John in their future planning.

His details can be found on our links to artists page, along with others.

Thanks again John, for a very enjoyable night, and thanks to all who attended, in helping to make the night so special.
